As part of the Delta Works, this estuary was closed off creating a sheltered saltwater lake which lends itself perfectly to many a sailing adventure. The crystalline waters and the various islands - where you can even opt to stay the night - give the impression of vacationing in the Mediterranean. The mooring spots at the Grevelingen are perfect for children: they can play at the water's edge or enjoy a safe boat ride on the placid waters. Port Zeelande and Bruinisse have large marinas with all the comforts of home, an extensive shopping area for nautical merchandise and groceries and several restaurants. You can dock at the Brouwershaven, Scharendijke and Oudorp harbours and take a leisurely stroll through the village or duck into one of the many bars and restaurants. Along the Brouwersdam you will find two sheltered, former construction harbours with docking facilities for yachts. You can practically step right off your deck and onto the beaches of the North Sea. Peace and tranquillity are easy to find at the Grevelingen - just cast your anchor at the first quiet spot you find!
NOTE: A port charge is required from 1 April to 1 November for docking your boat at a public mooring spot. Maintenance and cleaning costs at these public facilities are not fully covered by general tax funds. The port charge regulation was implemented to ensure that users contribute to these costs.
