Sail from the harbour through the small Manderssluis to the Volkerak. This lock is almost always open and passable. In the summer months, however, the lock may be closed due to blue-green algae in the Volkerak. Please allow for extra time in this case.
The Volkeraksluizen are only a stone's throw away on the starboard side. Use the pound lock to connect you to the Hollands Diep and the Haringvliet. The Haringvliet Bridge, on your left as you leave the locks, separates the Hollands Diep from the Haringvliet.
On the portside, nature lovers will delight in several large wildlife reserves. You can also sail to the Krammersluizen in no time (which has a lock especially for yachts). This lock will take you from fresh to tidal salt water. Once through the lock, the Grevelingen and Oosterschelde are within easy reach. Slightly farther away you will find the Veerse lake.
At the Volkerak, the harbours of Ooltgensplaat, Steenbergen, de Heen and Oude Tonge are certainly worth a visit.
